Blog on Shitty First Drafts
My writing process is not really anything special. I pretty much use the same process that I was
taught in school. First I will sit down and write a couple of things that that come to my head about the
subject of which I am going to write about. When I get write down my ideas I categorize them into areas
where they might have similarities so that I can break them up into paragraphs or sections that make
sense. After I have all my ideas in order I will write a rough draft to see how my ideas lay out on paper.
When I am done with my rough draft I will go over it and edit what I need to to make my paper flow
better and make grammatical corrections. After I review my rough draft I will start to write my final
draft. During this whole process I listen to music because it helps me think and relax while I am trying to
write my paper. This process was effective in high school because we never had to write really long
papers, but in college I probably should start to change it. The amounts of detail in papers that are
written in college are extremely different and my papers in the past have been kind of plan. So I am
willing to change up my methods of planning my writings. I have written one paper in college and it was
alright, but it could have been better. Writing in general has always produced problems for me for
multiple reasons. I usually have problems coming up with ideas on subjects that I don’t know about or
that I don’t want to write about. I also face problems with writers block from time to time. Once I write
down all my ideas I usually don’t have any left.
